Egg donation is required to be anonymous and the identity of egg donors may not be compromised - leading us to discuss pictures of egg donors.   Egg donor photos has always been a topic of debate in this regard.

Whilst a legal opinion has confirmed that showing adult pictures of egg donors does not compromise this anonymity, representation from South Africa’s Reproduction Association has guided that only childhood pictures of egg donors up to the age of around ten years old should be shown.

Accordingly, an initiative was implemented by baby2mom Egg Donation Agency facilitating egg donations to remove all adult egg donor photos and going forward only childhood pictures of egg donors may be loaded with the egg donor profiles.  So where people have previously requested so many different views - close ups, side shots and full body pictures of egg donors, this request can no longer be facilitated to offer a professional and ethical egg donor service.  

However baby2mom Egg Donations will still request adult photos of egg donors to be able to facilitate a good match or recommendation of possible egg donors upon such request by egg donation recipients.  

Pictures of egg donors help people make a choice, but the advantage is that allowing a little bit of fate and faith based on the detailed egg donor profile is also empowering.  This is freeing in that people who need donor eggs can see an idea of childhood pictures, view profiles, see academic, social, physical and medical background information.  Egg donation recipients are encouraged not to be distressed and about this new inability to see pictures of egg donors, but rather to find the answer in this.   

Recipients of egg donations are encouraged to look at the detailed profiles of the several hundreds of egg donors to get an idea of their preferred egg donor, albeit without adult egg donor photos.
